Kane Eddington week 8

On this beautiful and sunny day today, I was sitting in the living room and I noticed the cool effect that the window screen was making on the floor and my weird dog. In some places it is almost translucent but in others where it is folded and creased it creates a shadowy effect since light can not pass through as easily. This reminds me of in class when we put in gels and it is too big, you can’t really fold it over since it will change the characteristic of the light. This also reminds me of scrim used in theatre which I guess it sort of is since people looking in can’t really see us unless light is pointing outside.

  1. Great image and commentary! Love the varying degrees of shadows from the screen. Looks like the Homespun gobo or Torn Cloth. Love the dog finding his light! And it is very similar to scrim/sharkstooth material in theater. Works in a similar way too, though it lets a bit more light through.

  2. I like how the light comes in like an angle wash with a shutter cut and a gel in it as it narrows in on your dog and the window and curtains give the whole image a look reminiscent to a gobo.
