Jesus Cambero Lighting Blog Week 10

For this week's blog, I took a picture of the view of my neighborhood. I have a lot of trouble sleeping at times, so I went for a drive a couple nights ago and went to a hill that I have been going to since I was in middle school and took a picture of it. This view looks amazing in daylight, but it looks marvelous when its night time. In the night time, You see lights coming from different places. Whether they are fluorescents, streetlights, traffic lights, porch lights, car lights, or lights coming from buildings, this pictures shows that they are working together to create this image. I thought this kind of aligns how we use certain lighting instruments to create the image we have on our heads in theatre. How we use parcans, lekos, shins, fresnels, and other instruments to create our image. I thought this would make a great post since we are in the verge of expanding our creative minds. Learning to use different instruments at a different intensity to tell our stories. We are developing our lighting mind to present what we believe will get the message across our audience.

P.S.

I also added another picture that shows you how it looks like in the daytime so you can see the difference!

  1. I really like this picture since without knowing that there is a city in the background, it just looks like random specks of light that can be anything

  2. Love this image! So iconic! Looks like an 80's movie or something! Beautiful twinkling lights so tiny in the distance! Love the difference between the daytime/nighttime shots too. Nice commentary!

  3. This picture is such an incredible on/off. But I can definitely tell that the contrast in both pictures are marvelously pleasing to the eye. I like how in the night version, you can not even see the mountains and the city, but just a horizon of lights. The day version is nice as well, especially when the sun is setting and you can see the horizon of an ombre of colors.
