Donovan Dec Week 8
I set my calendar up wrong and screwed up the blog schedule for myself. Whoops. Back on track after this, 1 week late as a result.
I wanted to take a photo of the composition of my current recording studio. I've gotten some gels for my lights but I figured I wouldn't have much to talk about the single composition, so i walked around my house to find the most interesting lighting, and found this.
So the brushstroke is the same over the whole house. It's an overcast day and there is light coming from open windows just outside frame, even a skylight directly above. The walls are painted creamy orange and melon. I think those are the names of the paints, I painted the walls so. At the end of the hallway is a giant orange room. The hardwood is also a dark brown. It is quite a contrast in mood; the laundry room is harsh and clinical, whereas the hallway is warm and comforting. The light is coming at fairly extreme angles, and there are many interesting shadows in the laundry. It's cool to look at the single color of paint and how different it looks given the multiple light sources, extreme angle and from the skylight. I was going to just taking a picture of the wall but the laundry has such an interesting contrast. When you step through the threshold you can see the change in the color of light on your skin. Pretty cool.
