Week 14 Lighting Blog 
Final entry for Lighting blog.  🎉 📷 🎭
The shadows that were cast by the Sun against the red bricks of the Luckman Fine Arts and my friend Christy were very warm and welcoming. After lighting rehearsal for the Spring Dance Concert, the natural light from the Sun outside was peaceful especially after being inside the cold theater for almost four hours. I had this sense of peace, hope, and power when I saw the striking angles of the light and shadows. What was really moving was the power of the Sun's warm light.
With this upcoming week being my last dance concert as an undergrad and with commencement in less than 15 days, I felt trust in the Sun's warmth. Trust in the process of what is to come in this next chapter of my life.

I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation in this post to this class and for everyone's posts and lighting designs in class. Reading the blogs were inspiring for me to view light differently and appreciate it in ways I could not imagine. Thank you, everyone. ☀️Ashe😊🙏

    Gorgeous post and what a beautiful sentiment! There is nothing better than basking in beautiful warm sunlight after spending a day inside a dark theater playing with light :) Lovely commentary and gorgeous natural dance lighting! :)

The other day I went to a concert at LA Live in downtown and when I went to use the bathroom in one of the nearby hotels, I had to go through this hallway. I was taken aback by how simple and elegant the lighting was. The way the white marble flooring reflects the geometric lights is really gorgeous! I love the choice of warm colors they made and how it make the room feel very cozy despite geometric designs typically making architectural lighting feel more harsh and uninviting (compared to other softer lighting choices). My favorite part of this whole hallway is how they managed to light it in a way that draws your eyes to the painting at the end which helps make it the focus piece of the room. -Rosie

Thalia Hendrick Week 14

For my last blog I decided to choose something more close to home. I have always had a fascination for nature and have always loved seeing blooms from outside my window. This picture was taken last week when I was home writing a paper. I noticed that the sun was setting and a beautiful golden wash was placed over a rose bush I had outside. Since the curtains inside my home were closed, there was no light being let into the room. I thought this image in particular was beautiful because of the contrast of light and darkness in the image. Although there is no light inside the room, it is still being bounced off of the brick wall and other things outside to illuminate part of the doorway and curtain. The blue sky is a beautiful gradient of blue and adds liveliness to the image. I also thought the red of the roses added character to the golden amber and greens in the picture. Week 6 This week's photo was a picture taken of my car dashboard. I was sitting in my car parked underneath a light as I was about to go into work. I found the combination of colors from where I was reclined very interesting. On the inside there was different Amber glows made by the light coming from above. Outside it was sunset, the sky had a blue ombre color that went from dark to light. The thing that came to my mind when I first saw this was the picture projects and how these saturated colors resembled that of the gels on the lighting fixtures in class and how it would look to replicate on stage. It is also interesting how this combination of natural light with  artificial light blended so beautifully. This moment was unique because it described a specific time of day seen in the shadows and light. It would have been something entirely different at a different time of day or different location.
