Thalía Hendricks Week 8

I chose this image one day while I was walking to class. I saw it through the door window and adored the soft light coming through the blinds and how it warmly illuminated the room. I thought the amber hue to the room was so welcoming and calm. I also noticed that the different spaces between the blinds created different streaks of light but they all still seem very natural. Then the polished wood of the desks allowed the light to be smoothly seen but not shine as harshly as it would on metal. I wanted to take a picture of the room from a different angle but the automatic lights came on once I stepped foot inside. Entirely, I thought this image was very lovely.

  1. oooooh LOVE this image! Love the uneven streaks of light creating a wonderfully theatrical cyc or background to the room. Love the warm hue despite the cool blue sunlight source. Love the reflection of uneven light off the semi shiny floor and desks. I'd love to take this photo and design a dance piece with this scenic/lighting combo in mind! Super interesting!

  2. What catches my eye in this is the many reflective surfaces that bounce the refracted light coming through the window. This adds a depth to the image, and brings me to focus on odd parts of the room. The blinds do really add a warmer tone to the cold light, making a nice contrast and adding a nice color source to the scene. I love that there are no sharp shadows or rays of sun. The image makes me feel lovely and lonely, which I do find fit together, and I feel I could get a lot of work done in this room. If only it wasn't for those automatic lights! Great picture.
