Patrick M. Kong Lighting Week #8
I took this picture as I was walking towards the Theatre Department. The shape of the shadow from the tree caught my attention. It reminded me of Gobos from lighting class. I love how the leaves from the tree portrayed an odd shape from its shadows like an image of a monstrous light post or a scary looking bird. There is a lot more abstract commodities that can come along just by looking at this picture. Which is the exact reason why I took it in the first place. I can't wait to take more pictures that will give me more of this kind of inspiration and creative images in the future.
It's also such a great realization that you don't need an actual "leaf" gobo to create a realistic shadow of light coming through a tree. These organic softly focused blobs sure don't look like leaves, but we know that's what they are. It's nice to feel like nature can be a bit abstract with her painting as well ;)
